The Site

The site is the former Youth Centre at High Street, Kingswinford, West Midlands, DY6 8AP. The building is currently vacant and has been so since it was closed in 2014.

The site comprises the vacant former youth centre building, the associated parking and hardstanding, as well as the aging play park and part of the basketball court located to the rear.

The proposals include the relocation of the play area to provide a brand-new play park with modern and inclusive equipment, as well as the provision of a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) which is perfect for older children. These great new children’s facilities will be provided on the recreation space to the rear of Kingswood Community Centre.

The site is on the High Street, just a few minutes’ walk from key amenities, and the main shopping areas of Kingswinford. All of these amenities being within walking distance of the site encourages sustainable travel, as well as benefiting the local businesses of Kingswinford who will experience increased footfall and expenditure.

The proposed redevelopment of the site for a retirement living community will also greatly improve the attractiveness of the site and wider area and provide an attractive development a more in-keeping with the site’s residential surroundings.
