Churchill Living are bringing forward proposals for a new retirement living development at the former Lidl at Western Promenade Road, in the Wherry Town area, in the west of Penzance.
The former Lidl store closed in 2017 when they moved into their current store adjacent to the site. The large supermarket building was subsequently demolished and the site has now been vacant for 8 years.
Churchill Living’s vision is to make a significant investment to bring this long-term vacant brownfield site back into beneficial use as a retirement living development comprising a mix of apartments and cottages for independent living.
The proposed development is a deliverable and appropriate opportunity to greatly improve the street scene on Western Promenade by positively regenerating a site which detracts from the setting of Wherry Town. The proposals would also make a significant contribution locally in terms of social, economic and environmental benefits.
