
The Site
The proposed site is currently hosts a vacant, rundown building which has been out of use since 2020. The site has become the target of vandalism and antisocial behaviour which has led to council officers and the police being called to the site throughout the period the building has been vacant.
The site, which is situated on Mill Lane, is less than a mile walk from both the main shopping areas in Felixstowe, and Felixstowe train station. The proximity to the centre of Felixstowe will be beneficial for the local businesses there, as residents of retirement living developments are often ‘basket shoppers’, with the average 45-unit retirement living development generating £550,000 of spending per year, with £347,000 spent on the local high street.
