Churchill Retirement Living

A new Churchill Retirement community in Salisbury

The Site

The site comprises vacant brownfield land at 30-36 Fisherton Street in Salisbury City Centre. The site was previously occupied by the British Heart Foundation shop (now relocated nearby) and a large factory outlet. The buildings have now been demolished.

In 2019 planning permission was granted for an 86 room hotel on the site alongside a new library and gym. The need for a new Library fell away as it did not need to relocate. A revised planning application was therefore submitted in March 2022 for a larger 96-bedroom hotel with a café and retail unit. Churchill has since been offered the site by the vendor and is looking to promote an alternative development.

The site shares boundaries with the United Reformed Church and the surrounding area is characterised by a variety City centre uses, including residential, retail, leisure, and service establishments.

As a highly sustainable location, the site benefits from an extensive array of nearby amenities, including a wide range of shops, services, and facilities. The site is within walking distance of a Sainsbury's supermarket, The Maltings shopping centre, and an M&S store. Salisbury train station is just a 7-minute walk away and bus stops are located immediately adjacent to the site.

The site is situated in the Conservation Area, surrounded by a historic setting and Listed Buildings. This development presents an opportunity to enhance the appearance and character of the conservation setting by delivering a high-quality building.
