October 2024 – Appointment of contractor Williams Southern

We are pleased to provide an update on the progress of Sainsbury’s new store in Yatton.  

After planning permission was granted for our new Yatton store in 2023, we are pleased to announce that we have taken control of the site at Arnold’s Way in Yatton and appointed the main contractor to start work. This marks a significant milestone in delivering a new Sainsbury’s for Yatton and a range of benefits, including around 40 new local jobs. 

The main contractor, Williams Southern, is a renowned west country construction firm with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects and will lead on construction of the new store. With the contractor now in place, work is set to begin on the site this month, with minor works (including the internal stripping of the existing buildings on the site) to begin from 9th September. This will be followed by the demolition / dismantling works of the existing buildings themselves, which is taking place from 23rd September.  

We remain committed to keeping the community informed and will provide further updates as the project progresses. The initial phase of work will include the creation of the new site access via Arnold’s Way.
