Care Concern Group

A New Care Home in Epsom

Welcome

Welcome to our website, where we are seeking your views on proposals we are bringing forward for a new care facility on the Former Police & Ambulance Station on Church Street, Epsom.

Care Concern Group is a well-regarded care home provider operating more than 75 care homes across England, Scotland & Wales. We employ over 4,000 people and offer a range of care needs including residential, nursing, dementia and respite.

We propose to deliver a part 4 and part 5-storey 100-bed Care Home that would provide a facility of excellence for local people living with acute care needs. The Care Home would offer person-centred care and deliver en-suite bedroom accommodation that would create a ‘Household Community’.

We held a public exhibition in March 2022. If you were unable to attend our public exhibition, you can download the exhibition boards below:

Project Update – May 2022

Following the conclusion of their recent consultation, Care Concern Group (CCG hereafter) have now submitted a planning application to Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, for a new high quality care facility at the Former Police & Ambulance Station on Church Street, Epsom.

As you may recall, in March this year we provided a newsletter to local residents, which outlined CCG’s proposals and how members of the local community could submit their comments on our plans. We also held a public exhibition event, where local residents could view the proposals in more detail and meet the project team.

The planning application will now go through the normal planning process at Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and we expect it to be validated shortly.

We are grateful for the local community for taking the time to view CCG’s proposals and provide their feedback. All the feedback and comments received have been reviewed by the project team and have informed the final proposals for this site.

Following your feedback, we have made some modifications to the scheme since originally proposed. The changes are as follows:

  • The scheme will now comprise 96, rather than the 100 care units for greater use of space and enable CCG to provide the highest quality of care for their residents.

  • One basement car parking space has been removed for structural purposes as well as allowing for greater accessibility for our residents. 33 parking spaces will be delivered in total, which will include electric vehicle charging points and 4 disabled parking spaces, with one disabled parking space situated at the care home entrance at surface level.

  • The access to the basement car park has been altered to be single track. This will protect the roots of trees located outside the site’s boundary. This is in line with the strong landscape-led scheme we are bringing forward, which will result in a net gain in bio-diversity and ecological value, with 25 new trees being planted and all existing trees being retained.
