The Site
The site comprises the former Tesco supermarket off Cripps Road in Cirencester, constructed in 1976. Tesco closed the store in 2023 and it has since remained vacant.
The existing supermarket is roughly three domestic storeys in height and is a very monolithic and plain structure with very few windows or features and arguably detracts form the local area, especially given the prominent location it holds in the town centre.
Sustainable Location
The site lies between the Sheep Street Long Stay and the Brewery Court car parks, in Cirencester town centre with great pedestrian access to shopping areas on Castle Street and Cricklade Street (via Bishop’s Walk).
The site therefore has an extensive range of key facilities within a short walk including local shops, restaurants, and other businesses in Cirencester Town Centre and its redevelopment for residential uses will bring increased footfall and expenditure to the town centre.
