David Lloyd

Stafford Gate

The Site

David Lloyd Leisure has identified land at Stafford Gate, to the north of the M6 and south of Creswell Grove as an ideal location for a premium health and wellness centre.

The site sits on the edge of the existing built-up area and is well related to surrounding development. Land to the north is primarily agricultural with some residential properties beyond, while to the east and south the site is bounded by the M6 motorway, with residential and industrial areas beyond.

The site itself is generally flat and enclosed in part by existing trees and hedgerows, which help to provide natural screening from surrounding areas. There are no significant trees within the site.

Outline planning permission was granted on the site in 2019 for a mixed-use scheme including offices, a hotel, nursery and leisure uses. Subsequent works have already delivered infrastructure on site, including an access road and sustainable drainage features. However, the wider hotel and leisure uses have not come forward.

The site therefore has a clear history of planned development and benefits from an established principle for commercial and leisure uses.

This club will enhance local economic growth by providing a community-oriented destination that promotes physical and mental well-being.

The development will create 70-100 new jobs supported by David Lloyd’s training and mentoring initiatives.

Furthermore, the development will have a minimal environmental footprint, adhering to our commitment to achieving Carbon Net Zero.
