The site will provide around 50 new EV charging spaces from day one, supporting drivers making the switch to EV and reducing range anxiety (the fear of running out of charge) on the M55. In an industry-leading move, the remaining car spaces on site will be EV-ready for when demand and grid capacity grow in the future.
While our site will be ready for an EV future, we will still be providing petrol and diesel refuelling for cars on site through a traditional fuel filling station.
Our proposals include around 70 new HGV spaces, helping to address the local critical shortage and ensuring HGV drivers have somewhere safe and secure to park overnight and access to essential welfare facilities including toilets, showers and hot food.
All HGV spaces will be designed to accommodate electric charging infrastructure if required, should electric HGVs be rolled out in the future.
Preston Services will be designed with sustainability in mind, employing the following innovative features:
At this key location on the edge of Preston, we want to ensure our new Services benefits from a high-quality design which reflects and responds to the surrounding landscape.
The focal point of the site will be a light and airy amenity building, providing a welcoming space for motorists to rest and relax.
Building design will also take account of increased dwell times from the use of EVs, ensuring the right facilities are in place to make stopping to recharge easy and convenient.
