Proposed Design

The design concept is derived from two key architectural features of the Retort building - the arch, and the plinth. Arches and plinths can be found all over Christchurch. 

No matter the time period in the town’s illustrious history, the arch and the plinth are interwoven into the architectural fabric of town’s aesthetic and as such, have been incorporated into the design of the proposed building to ensure the scheme is in keeping with the local vernacular. 

Design Review Panel

After initial engagement with the Town Council, it was requested Churchill Retirement Living bring their proposals to a Design Review Panel.

The Design Review Panel was held on Friday 23rd September and the feedback, together with the feedback from the public consultation will be considered prior to the submission of a planning application.
