Sainsbury’s welcomes the acceptance of its’ appeal for a new store in Shipston-on-Stour
Sainsbury’s welcomes the Government Planning Inspectorate’s decision to accept its’ planning appeal for a new Sainsbury’s store on the corner of Tileman’s Lane and Darlingscote Road.
This decision comes following Stratford upon Avon District Council’s decision to refuse Sainsbury’s application for a new store in Shipston.
A spokesperson at Sainsbury’s said: “Sainsbury’s is passionate about providing good food for all of us, and look forward to becoming an integral part of Shipston’s already thriving community”.
The new 6,759 sq ft store will provide Shipston with its’ first mainstream supermarket, giving residents an outlet to access its’ comprehensive food ranges at main supermarket prices.
An in-store Click & Collect service will bring together the much-loved brands of Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing under one roof, enabling customers to collect their online Argos, Habitat and Tu purchases whilst picking up their groceries.
Sainsbury’s is committed to investing in Shipston and will be looking to recruit roughly 40 new colleagues from the local area to join the new store team.

Unfortunately, despite the public demonstrating clear public support for our proposal during a consultation period last year, Stratford upon Avon District Council have refused our planning application. Sainsbury’s has now therefore submitted an appeal to Stratford upon Avon District Council.

Sainsbury’s has now submitted a planning application to Stratford-upon-Avon District Council, which has now been validated under planning reference 24/00528/FUL.
