A Site Search

An assessment of sites is ongoing to identify a suitable site for the proposed substation for Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury, and we previously discussed with stakeholders the siting of this substation at the former Buckinghamshire County Council Sports and Social Club in Stoke Mandeville. 

We have continued to review sites to ensure that the substation is in the most suitable location which considers social, economic, environmental and technical demands within Aylesbury, and this site search is ongoing. The technical constraints of the substation require it to be located within the Parish of Stoke Mandeville. The former Buckinghamshire County Council Sports and Social Club site remains under consideration, along with other options until such time as any alternative site may be identified and secured. 

Throughout the ongoing site search we take into account a range of factors to assess the suitability of the site. These include size, topography, road access, availability and location in relation to forthcoming development areas and existing power infrastructure.
