FAQ's

We understand that residents will have lots of questions and wonder why we have submitted two planning applications for the same site. The following FAQs should provide some further information, if you have any further questions, please get in touch with us using the details on the Contact us page.

General

1. What will happen with the previous application?

We will continue to work closely with the council and statutory consultees on progressing our previous application. Our new proposals offer an alternative scheme designed to our fit-for-the-future sustainability standards in response to future transport needs. Should both applications be approved, we will undertake assessments to decide which scheme is the most suitable, and viable for this location.

Our newest proposals will continue to support motorists on their transition to clean energy, we will do this by delivering a mix of EV and E-HGV Spaces from day one, with the remaining ready to be adapted in line with demand.

2. What has happened to the proposed hotel and drive-thru?

Following our previous consultation and engagement with stakeholders, we have removed the Lodge Hotel and Drive-Thru from our proposals, allowing for the addition of more HGV and E-HGV parking spaces, ensuring that the facility is prepared for the growing demand for zero-emission haulage and future transport needs. The increased parking capacity will provide greater convenience and accessibility for drivers while promoting sustainable practices.

3. What sustainability features are included in the proposals?

Our proposals are designed to be sustainable and increase biodiversity and wildlife in the area. The proposed amenity building will be developed to our new fit-for-the-future standard, ensuring that our sites promote sustainability. This includes a low-carbon building design incorporating a green living roof and solar panels, to increase local biodiversity and produce renewable energy. We will also be providing facilities for electric vehicle charging, and E-HGV charging facilities.

A significant portion of the site will be dedicated to nature, with the creation of ponds, grasslands, and extensive tree planting, providing habitats for local wildlife to thrive. A landscaped plaza with a water feature and seating area, along with outdoor spaces containing picnic benches and play equipment, will be provided for visitors' enjoyment.

Car Provision

1. How many car parking spaces are proposed overall?

Over 580 car parking spaces will be provided, including 78 EV charging spaces available from day one. We will also provide 17 spaces for caravans, 10 spaces for coaches and 24 spaces for motorbikes.

2. How many EV charging spaces are proposed?

Basingstoke Services will deliver 78 new High Power EV charging bays from day one, with the remaining spaces to be brought forward in the future as demand and grid capacity grows.

3. Will there be spaces for motorists with disabilities, or parent and child spaces?

We will be providing both disabled spaces and parent and child spaces, in line with policy requirements.

4. Will there be a petrol/diesel fuel-filling station for cars?

While Moto is committed to leading the national transition to electric vehicles, we are also fully aware many motorists will continue to need petrol and diesel fuel on the motorway network. The proposals therefore include a conventional fuel filling station for cars on both sites, which will be smaller than our previously submitted application to reflect the fact that when the site opens many more cars will be EVs.
