At Moto, we are proud of our work so far on helping to build a sustainable future and supporting the communities around our sites, but we are not stopping there.
Moto Foundation
- Our charity, Moto Foundation, has raised over £9m since its inception in 2005 to make a positive difference to the communities around our sites.
- Our current national charity partners are Mind & SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), as voted by our colleagues who recognise the importance of mental health and wellbeing.
- We have donated £700,000 to the Woodland Trust & Wildfowl & Wetland Trust and planted over 30,000 native trees in recent years.
- We have made over 700 local community grants to charities within a 25 mile radius of Moto sites.
- We have donated over 180,000 books to local adopted schools close to our Moto sites and support local school breakfast clubs with our brand partner Greggs.
Planet
- Since we started recording power usage, customers have charged their electric cars over 1.2m times, saving nearly 38,000 tonnes of CO2.
- We have installed water and energy saving technology throughout all our refurbishments.
- Installed new building management systems to reduce energy usage – this has resulted in an energy reduction of 44% at our Reading site and 13% across 73 Greggs stores.
Product
- Established joint sustainability plans with our brands.
- Introduced a 2025 target for 100% stocking of recycled plastic (RPET) soft drinks.
- Launched the surplus food service Too Good To Go in 158 stores, with over 73,000 bags sold resulting in 184 tonnes of CO2 saved.
- Costa takeaway cup recycling scheme led to 165m recycled cups.
People
- Our Operating Board is 57% female, reflecting the overall % of females at Moto.
- 331 Leaders trained as Wellbeing Champions with 80 further due to train this year.
- Raised £1 million for Moto Foundation.
- Our job satisfaction score is 11% above the industry average for hospitality.
