Consultation Proposals
Swindon Services will deliver an industry-leading 50 new EV charging spaces from Day 1, with the remaining spaces EV-ready, with infrastructure in place to expand provision as demand and grid capacity grows.
While our site will be ready for an EV future, we will still be providing petrol and diesel refuelling for cars on site through a traditional fuel filling station.
Our proposals include 62 new HGV spaces, helping to address the local critical shortage and ensuring HGV drivers have somewhere safe and secure to park overnight and access to essential welfare facilities including toilets, showers and hot food.
All HGV spaces will be designed to accommodate electric charging infrastructure if required, should electric HGVs be rolled out in the future.
Swindon Services will be designed with sustainability in mind, employing the following innovative features:
c.12.5% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) across the site, creating thriving new habitats for wildlife.
At this key location on the boundary of Wiltshire, we want to ensure Swindon Services benefits from a high-quality design which reflects and responds to the surrounding landscape.
The focal point of the site will be a light and airy amenity building, providing a welcoming space for motorists to rest and relax.
Building design will also take account of increased dwell times from the use of EVs, ensuring the right facilities are in place to make stopping to recharge easy and convenient.
